2025 Bob Parlette Award Honors James Munly for Outstanding Service

Bob Parlette (1941-2017) was a tenacious visionary whose commitment to public service and outdoor recreation left an indelible mark on North Central Washington. The Bob Parlette Award is an annual recognition given to individuals who demonstrate similar dedication to public service and outdoor experiences in our region.

The 2025 Bob Parlette Award was presented to James Munly at TREAD’s 4th Quarter Ex Officio Roundtable meeting in November.

The Bob Parlette Award was created to recognize members of our community who have created a legacy through stewardship and public service. Linda Evan's Parlette was in attendance to honor her late husband's legacy of public service and community engagement and to present the award to James Munly.

Maggie Richter - Our Valley, Our Future Nominated James, “When I read about the legacy of Bob Parlette and his lifelong commitment to public service and outdoor recreation, James Munly was the first person who came to mind. Although I’ve only lived in Leavenworth for five years, James has already made a lasting impression on me and my family. He’s been a friendly and encouraging presence — from cheering on my three-year-old learning to ski on the magic carpet, to sharing in the fun at Ski Hill’s music nights, to helping organize trail work parties and clean-ups. I know his impact reaches far beyond what I’ve personally witnessed. James brings a long history of investment in trails, young people, and outdoor stewardship. I’m thrilled to see him honored for his dedication and hard work — much of it carried out quietly, behind the scenes.”

Mic McLane - Evergreen Mountain Bike Association also Nominated James, “James has been a steady advocate for outdoor recreation in the Wenatchee Valley for decades, always working to build trust with land managers and secure lasting access for mountain bikers. As a founding member of the first Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance chapter, the Central chapter - he helped establish the foundation for organized mountain bike advocacy in our region. From his work with the Forest Service at Ski Hill, featured in Pedal Driven, to mentoring volunteers and shaping sustainable trail systems, James has consistently shown up and made a lasting impact on our community.”
