Public outreach and engagement part to mobilize support and leverage additional funding for this project.
With only 17.6% public land in Douglas County, the Town of Mansfield is working to increase public land access, recreation opportunities, and connecting six rural communities. In 2024, the Douglas County Outdoor Recreation Plan found that Douglas County residents want more multi-use trails and open space access. With current land ownership, new recreation development is limited, so this project is a top priority for The Town of Mansfield, Douglas County, TREAD and the community.
